Lifestyle changes can help you get enough sleep.
Sleep is essential for good health. Lack of proper sleep can lead to serious chronic conditions, including Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, obesity and depression.
Adults need at least seven hours of sleep a night, but one-third of Americans say they aren't getting enough.
If you use a prescription sleep aid, talk to your doctor about possible side effects. Be sure to follow the medication's instructions for safe use.
Improve your sleep without sleeping pills. Exercise more often and stick to a bedtime routine. Keep your bedroom dark and quiet. Avoid caffeine, alcohol and large meals before bed.
